Microsoft announces new cloud storage options for Office on Android

Office, the ultimate productivity tool for mobile (desktop too), has just received a couple of new improvements.
Microsoft announced that those who often use Office while on the move will have a few more cloud storage options at their disposal.

The Redmond-based company announced that the Cloud Storage Partner Program (CSPP) is now available for all the Office apps that are now listed on Google Play store.

This feature was already available for desktop users for quite a long time, but mobile users did not have the option to open and edit documents from a variety of storage locations.

Basically, you can now add your own cloud storage solution to whatever Office app you're using. In order to do that simply head to “Add a place” menu in the latest versions of any of the Office apps on Android.

That way you will be able to edit and share documents stored with that provider just as you would do with those stored on OneDrive. In addition, you can now launch Word, Excel or PowerPoint directly from the cloud storage provider's app.

For the time being, there are only a couple of cloud storage options that you can choose from: Dropbox, Box, Egnyte and Tencent. However, Microsoft promised that it will soon add more cloud storage options, including Citrix ShareFile, Edmodo and Learnium.
